Elegant Black & White Staircase Renovation & Design in Aurora, GTA, Ontario
At Woodhills Flooring, we specialize in transforming staircases into stunning architectural statements. This recent stair renovation and design project in Aurora, GTA, Ontario, completed in December 2020 for our client Amir, is a perfect example of a classic-meets-modern staircase transformation.
The goal was to modernize an outdated staircase with a bold yet timeless black-and-white contrast, maintaining the home's elegant aesthetic while enhancing durability and structural integrity. The result? A sophisticated, high-contrast staircase that blends seamlessly with the home's contemporary design.
- Old Staircase Preparation & Surface Refinement: Carefully stripped the original stair treads, risers, and handrails. Conducted a structural integrity check to ensure a solid foundation. Smoothed all surfaces for a seamless paint application.
- Material Selection & Customization: Premium hardwood treads were chosen for longevity and superior strength. Opted for a two-tone color scheme with deep black treads and a crisp white base to create a striking contrast. A curved wooden handrail was custom-stained in rich ebony, complementing the black stair treads for a sophisticated touch.
- Tread, Riser & Baluster Installation: Installed solid hardwood treads, meticulously painted in a durable, deep black finish. Crafted crisp white risers to emphasize the contrast and depth of the design. Refitted the white balusters, ensuring perfect alignment with the curved railing for a clean, flowing appearance.
- Handrail Refinishing & Custom Painting: The existing handrail was refinished and stained in an elegant dark tone. Applied protective coatings to maintain the rich finish and ensure resistance to daily wear. Integrated a seamless, curved handrail design to enhance the staircase’s graceful aesthetic.
- Final Detailing & Quality Assurance: Applied a scratch-resistant topcoat to both treads and risers for maximum durability. Performed a final quality check to ensure smooth, flawless finishing. Cleaned and polished all surfaces for a stunning final reveal.
